Greyblades

Commented on Roe v. Wade Overturned 2022

I've got a tired and sad hunch that most of the ensuing rioting will be happening in states where abortion has already been secured by local legislatures.

No, I can respect people who can actually be honest about their beliefs, what with the Late Aerie and I even like bloody Greyblades more than your two-faced act.

You are, the actual worst 'debater' here, even more than the guy who only lasted 30 minutes and said democracy was a weakness, because at least he was honest.

The way you hyper-normalize the bullshit that's pulled has always astounded me. More than that however, is the insipid tendency to try to erase responsibility, all the while trying to blame whoever you're fucking over today. Reminds me of the time when I got lectured about the righteousness of torture. You fucks would justify anything.

>I'm not even against abortion (even if much of the culture surrounding it is cringe as hell), but I recognize that it was stupid to hinge it entirely on judicial activism.

Actually, you do act like one type of twitter user, the 'concerned contrarian' who's only input seems to be chastise or try to justify, like you did with that Far-right White supremacist. When I play devil's advocate, I actually take the time to argue more than one 'side'.

Yeah, yeah, see you next week when you shift responsibility on gay marriage.

The saddest part is that's the nicest thing Professor Zoom could ever say.

What Ezra did was already bad enough, yet somehow it keeps getting worse. At this rate, they're beyond saving unfortunately.

That's just great. I understand that LGBT+ activism has become idiotic over the 5 years or so, but that doesn't mean that it's ok to remove gay and lesbian's people rights to marry, nor should it ok to surveil what people (gay or straight) get up to in the privacy of their bedrooms (they must be very much into voyeur porn).

Also, contraceptives are a great way of reducing abortions. I'd buy the pro-life argument of wanting to save the lives of fetuses more if they were more in favor of contraceptives, cause as it stands, they just wanna have their cake and eat it too.

The only people who you show any respect towards are people you agree with, so that statement is emptier than your skull. It definitely seems pretty unhinged to look at the court going "hmm, this may not actually be guaranteed by the constitution" and shit your pants about fascism, but I'm not a displaced Twitter reply guy, so who am I really to judge?

Again, Congress should've decided this. They had, what, fifty years to decide to codify a shaky, but generally popular, Supreme Court decision into a formal law? I'm not even against abortion (even if much of the culture surrounding it is cringe as hell), but I recognize that it was stupid to hinge it entirely on judicial activism. I don't think you're going to read this part, though.

I don't think you properly realize what a Constitutional Court does.

It's supposed to tell the government what it's NOT allowed to regulate. Where it's boundaries to act are. Where they encroach on basic rights and are thus powerless to do anything.

A Supreme Court can not regulate the lives of it's citizens. It can only regulate the powers of the government and with it it's power to control the citizenry.

That means that BY DEFINITION every time a Constitutional Court strikes down such a boundary the only thing it tells the government is "you are free to restrict it as you please". There is no scenario in which such a ruling can provide MORE rights for the people.

Any ruling that lowers the government's ability to regulate means almost always, with maybe a few exceptions, MORE rights for the citizens because it's not allowed to be touched. E.g. European privacy laws are the results of the government being FORBIDDEN to collect private data without good reason. Free Speech is the result of the government being FORBIDDEN to regulate speech. Gun rights are the result of the government being FORBIDDEN to regulate gun ownership.

Last Month: It's not even a real document you Libtards, probably just being "leaked" so the Democrats can distract you from Joe Biden being a lizard man.
Today: Hooray! The Government interfering in our lives and telling us we're not allowed to do something! We love that!

Can't believe we are going backwards. If the democrats want to save the midterms, they're going to have to try and push for getting gay marriage into law. But that is going to be insanely difficult with the Senate being divided.

It's not looking good for us gay and bi people in America.

"Government abuse of power is always OK when my political party does it. Ain't no way the other side can possibly regain power and abuse the powers on me in turn!"
