It's Morbin Time
It's Morbin' Time is a fictional catchphrase attributed to the title character in the 2022 superhero movie Morbius as part of the ongoing joke surrounding the film of inventing aspects of the movie. In addition to being a fictional line from the film, it has been used as titles in numerous Morbius memes on Reddit, particularly on the subreddit /r/whenthe.
On November 2nd, 2021, Twitter user @talestoenrage made a tweet in which he wondered if comic book character Morbius tried out various catchphrases such as "morbing around" or "time to morb." On the same day, Twitter user @rhidaneelolivaw replied, "it's morbin time." The line is a play on the Power Rangers' catchphrase "It's Morphin' Time" (also attributed to "it's clobberin' time" said by The Thing in the Fantastic 4 series). The tweet (shown below, left) did not achieve any attention until being discovered in May 2022.
On April 2nd, 2022, following the release of the film Morbius and viral popularity of the Morbius Sweep memes Twitter user @Rank10YGO posted, "the best part of Morbius was when he said 'IT'S MORBIN' TIME' and morbed all over those guys," gaining over 11,000 retweets and 121,000 likes in one month and spawning the meme (shown below, right).
The line is not actually said by Morbius in the film. It is related to the
He Didn't Say That / Movie Titles in Movie Lines meme.
The catchphrase saw usage in similar tweets over the following month. For example, on May 7th, 2022, Twitter user ElvisTheAlienTV posted a variation imagining Morbius at the end of Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, gaining over 12,000 retweets and 143,000 likes in four days (shown below, left). The same day, user MSOGold made a similar joke that gained over 40 retweets and 280 likes in four days (shown below, right).
Meanwhile, on Reddit, the phrase was used as the title to various Morbius-themed memes, particularly on /r/whenthe. For example, on April 29th, 2022, Redditor SorridoSnake posted a meme with the title that gained over 4,800 points in over one week (shown below, left). On May 8th, 2022, Redditor Uncreative3Username9 posted a Senator Armstrong meme with the title "It's Morbin Time," gaining over 9,100 points in three days (shown below, right).
